Rett Charities

Below are the three main UK based Rett Charities that collectively raise funds not only to provide support for sufferers, but also support research for a cure. They have a wealth of information and it’s where we turned to when Abbie was first diagnosed.

I can’t praise Rett UK enough – their helpline was a lifeline in the early, dark, days. All the staff there are so supportive, knowledgeable and understanding. We thank you!

Before Abbie was clinically diagnosed with Rett, she was given the ‘umbrella’ diagnosis of Global Developmental Delay since she wasn’t meeting her milestones. We took her to Brainwave, a charity set up to help children with brain disorders. From our two day assessment we came home with a physio and speech programme designed to encourage Abbie to progress. These daily exercises have paid off (see “News”) and, again, we can’t thank enough the fantastic and committed staff we met in their Birchwood centre.

Reverse Rett and Cure Rett have close links to US based Rett charities as much of the research for a cure of Rett is taking place there. Take a look at “News” to read about the latest clinical trials – very exciting!!!

Read the websites statements below and then click the link take a look at the hard work they do. If you wish to enhance the work of these worthy charities, please donate via the links below :)
